Mobile App Development

Mobile app development for customers and field teams

iOS and Android apps, from first sketch to App Store and Google Play approval. We build apps people actually open, linked to your systems. Our own iOS apps are published in the App Store and our Android apps are in testing for Google Play.

01The challenge

Why mobile app development projects stall

Building screens is rarely the hard part. Mobile app development projects stall on scope, store approval and the systems behind the app.

The app tries to do everything

Version one copies the whole website onto a phone. It takes a year, costs far more than planned, and nobody uses most of it.

Store review comes as a surprise

The app is done, then rejected for missing privacy details, account deletion, sign-in rules or listing details. Launch slips while the team learns store rules under pressure.

It doesn't talk to your systems

Field data is typed into the app, then retyped into the ERP or CRM back at the office. Customers see old information because the app isn't linked to live records.

Each stage cuts down what reaches users, unless scope, store rules and connections are planned up front.
02What you get

What we build and run

You get a full product team for the app: design, development, connections to your systems, store publishing and ongoing support. The same senior people stay with it after launch.

Store presenceListings, privacy labels and release notes
The app you see sits on a connection layer and the systems that keep the data right.

Customer apps

Self-service apps for your clients: account status, documents, bookings, payments, alerts and support. They do what your portal does, in a faster mobile format.

  • Secure sign-in, including Google and Apple
  • Push alerts and in-app messages
  • Payments and booking

Field team apps

Apps for technicians, inspectors, sales reps and drivers: job lists, forms, photos, signatures, and an offline mode that syncs when the signal comes back.

  • Works offline, syncs in the background
  • Photo, barcode and signature capture
  • Records stamped with location

Connections to your systems

Links between the app and your CRM, ERP, scheduling or document systems. Data entered in the field reaches the office without retyping.

  • APIs and webhooks
  • Role-based access and audit logs
  • Shared back end with your web portal

App Store and Google Play publishing

Developer accounts, store listings, privacy labels, data safety forms, review submissions and answers to reviewer questions. We handle all of it.

  • Store listings and screenshots
  • Privacy labels and data safety forms
  • Review submission and follow-up

Usage stats and monitoring

Usage stats, step-by-step drop-off views and crash reports. You know which features get used, and we fix problems before users report them.

  • Screen and event tracking
  • Crash and speed monitoring
  • Monthly usage report

Upkeep and updates

Yearly iOS and Android releases, store rule changes and toolkit updates handled on a schedule. Plus a plan for new features.

  • OS and toolkit compatibility updates
  • Watching for store rule changes
  • Feature releases on a plan
03Compare the options

Native or cross-platform: an honest trade-off

There's no single right answer. We recommend an approach after looking at your features, budget, team and how long the app needs to last.

Native (Swift and Kotlin)

A separate app written for each platform. Best when you need deep phone features, top speed or the newest platform features on day one.

  • Full access to phone features
  • Best speed and native feel
  • Two codebases to build and maintain

Cross-platform (React Native or Flutter)

One shared codebase for iOS and Android. Best for business apps built around forms, lists and data, where getting to market fast and lower upkeep matter most.

  • One codebase for both platforms
  • New features ship faster
  • Some phone features need native add-ons
Build effortHow much work it takes to deliver both platforms
Most data-based business apps suit cross-platform. Apps that lean on phone hardware often justify native.
04Security and compliance

App Store and Google Play publication, handled for you

Store review is where many projects lose weeks. Our team publishes IN-STORE's own iOS apps in the App Store, including a white-label version for a partner brand, and our Android apps are in testing for Google Play. So we plan for review from the first sprint.

Privacy labels and data safety

We write down every kind of data the app and its add-ons collect. Then we fill in Apple's App Privacy details and Google Play's Data safety form accurately.

Store rules

Account deletion, sign-in options, permission prompts, subscription rules and content policies built in before submission, not patched after a rejection.

Accounts and listings

Organization developer accounts, store listings, screenshots, release notes and testing tracks set up under your company; ownership terms are set in your agreement.

Privacy law

Consent and data handling designed with PIPEDA, Quebec privacy rules and, for health data, PHIPA or HIPAA requirements in mind.

IN-STORE is not SOC 2 audited; we document controls mapped to SOC 2 criteria for your vendor review.

05How it works

How we deliver your app

We ship a focused first version, prove it with real users, then grow it. Each step ends with something you can install and try.

DiscoveryMain jobs and what goes in version one
You can install test versions from the first round, so your team stays close to the product.
  1. Learn how people work

We watch how your customers or field staff work today. Then we pick the one or two jobs the app must do and agree what goes into version one.

  2. Mockup and test

A clickable mockup tested with real users, plus the plan for connecting to your systems.

  3. Build in two-week rounds

Every two weeks you get a test version to install through TestFlight or Google Play test tracks.

  4. Publish

Store rule check, listings, submission and a release in stages.

  5. Measure and improve

Usage stats and feedback shape the plan for improvements and updates.

06Integrations

Systems and services we connect

An app is only as useful as the data behind it. We connect to the platforms your business already uses.

CRM and ERP

Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho and ERP systems, through their official connections or an in-between layer.

Sign-in

Email, Google and Apple sign-in, plus single sign-on for enterprise field teams.

Payments and subscriptions

Stripe for services, and in-app purchases where store rules require them.

Alerts and messages

Push alerts, texts and email, triggered by events in your systems.

Usage stats and crash reports

Firebase and similar tools for events, drop-off and stability.

Connection layerSecure access shared by app and portal
One connection layer serves the apps and your web portal, so every channel shows the same data.

FAQQuestions buyers ask

Frequently asked questions

Should we build an app or improve our mobile website first?

If people visit now and then, a fast mobile website is usually enough. An app earns its place when people use it often, need it offline, rely on push alerts or use phone features like the camera, GPS or barcode scanning. Field teams and frequent customers are the strongest cases. We'll tell you honestly if the website is the better spend.

Whose name is the app published under?

Yours. We set up or use your organization's developer accounts with Apple and Google, so the app, its listing, reviews and user data belong to your company. If you sell through partners, we can also publish white-label versions under a partner's brand. We run that setup for our own products.

How do you handle App Store and Google Play rejections?

We try to avoid them by checking store rules, privacy details and account deletion requirements before we submit. If a reviewer raises an issue, we answer, make the change and resubmit. Because we publish our own apps, our team keeps track of rule changes and updates your app before new rules kick in.

Can the app work without an internet connection?

Yes. For field teams we design apps that work offline first. They store jobs, forms and photos on the phone and sync on their own when the signal returns. We agree the rules up front, for example what happens when two people edit the same record, so the data in your CRM or ERP stays right.

What ongoing costs should we plan for after launch?

Plan for yearly developer fees from Apple and Google, hosting for the back end and an upkeep budget. Apple and Google release big operating system updates every year and often change store rules. So apps need scheduled updates to keep working and stay listed. We quote upkeep as a steady monthly amount.
