01The challenge

Why an automation readiness assessment comes first

Automation money often goes to the process everyone complains about, not the one worth the most. A short assessment swaps opinions for facts before you spend. It also finds blockers early, like messy data or a system change already planned, while they're still cheap to work around.

Too many ideas, no order

Every department has a wish list. Without one way to score them, the loudest request wins.

No business case finance will sign

Vendor calculators use the vendor's numbers. Your CFO needs an estimate built on your own volumes and costs.

Surprises halfway through

Data problems, system limits and compliance rules show up late. Then projects stall in the middle of the build.

02What you get

What you receive

Six things, all yours to keep. We write them so your team could follow the plan without us, though most clients choose to keep working with us.

Quick winsEasy to do, big payoff. Scheduled in the first 30 days.
Each idea is placed by its score, which sets its spot in the 90-day plan.

Process map

Maps of each process in scope as it runs today. They show steps, hand-offs, systems, volumes and the workarounds people rely on.

Ideas ranked by effort and payoff

Every automation idea rated on effort, payoff, risk and what it depends on. We plot them on one chart so priorities are clear at a glance.

Return estimate

A spreadsheet with open assumptions. It shows expected savings, costs, payback date and total cost of ownership for the top ideas.

90-day plan

A step-by-step plan for the first quarter. It says what to build, in what order, who owns each piece and how you'll measure success.

Tool advice

Which platforms to use, which tools you already own can do more, and where custom work makes sense. We tell you about any partner relationships.

Leadership readout

A working meeting with your leaders, usually led by our CEO and our Client Service Director. We walk through the findings, you challenge the numbers, and together we agree the next step.

03Who it is for

Who the assessment is for

It suits mid-market and enterprise companies in Canada and the United States with a lot of repetitive work. It works best when one senior leader owns the result.

Operations leaders

Your team is buried in retyping, chasing approvals and fixing spreadsheets. You want to know which fix matters most.

Finance leaders

You've heard plenty of automation pitches. You want an independent return estimate before approving any of them.

Sales and marketing leaders

Leads wait too long, the CRM can't be trusted and reports take days. You want a clear plan to fix it.

Enterprise program owners

You need a solid starting point for a pilot that will pass security, procurement and oversight review.

Assessment scopeAgreed at kickoff, usually two to four processes.
We can cover one department or several. We agree the scope at kickoff.
04How it works

How the 2 to 3 weeks are spent

The schedule is fixed, so you can plan around it. The exact length depends on how many processes are in scope and how fast we can book interviews.

KickoffScope, the right people, data and access.
Four phases inside a fixed window of 2 to 3 weeks.
  1. Days 1 to 3: kickoff and access

We confirm the scope and who we need to talk to. We ask for sample data and read-only access, and we book interviews.

  2. Week 1 to 2: discovery

A senior consultant interviews the people who do the work and walks through their systems. We map each process and note volumes, errors and wait times.

  3. Week 2: scoring and math

We score each idea and build the return estimate with your numbers. Then we draft the 90-day plan and the tool advice.

  4. Final week: leadership readout

We present what we found and walk through the numbers. Then we agree what happens next: go ahead with us, change the scope or do it in-house.

Frequently asked questions

What does the assessment cost?

It's a fixed fee for a fixed scope, quoted before you sign. The price covers all six outputs and the leadership readout, with no hourly billing. If your scope is unusually wide, for example several business units or regions, we agree that upfront. It goes into the quote instead of showing up as extra charges later.

How much time will our people need to give?

Plan on a senior sponsor at the kickoff and the readout. We also need a one-hour interview with each process owner, plus a short follow-up if needed. And we ask for sample data or read-only access to the systems in scope. Most clients find the total effort easy to fit around normal work.

Do we have to hire IN-STORE to implement the roadmap?

No. We write everything so your own team or another vendor can follow it. Many clients do keep working with us because we already know their processes. But the assessment is built to stand on its own. You keep the process maps, the ranked list, the return estimate and the plan, whatever you decide.

Can the assessment cover regulated data such as health or insurance records?

Yes. We often assess processes that involve health, insurance and legal documents. We work from samples or de-identified data where we can, and we follow your access rules. We note PHIPA, HIPAA or PIPEDA requirements against each idea. Compliance limits are part of the scoring, so the plan only includes what's actually allowed.

What if the assessment finds that automation is not worth it?

Then we tell you, and the numbers show why. Sometimes the right answer is to fix a process, clean up data or wait for a planned system change first. That finding still saves you money, because it stops a project that wouldn't have paid back. We'd rather tell you that than sell you something.
